Locked out of the house or unit
Most front doors open with picks and bypass tools, with no drilling and no damage. Deadlocked and high-security doors take longer. If drilling really is the only way in, you’ll be told first, and a new lock goes in before we leave so the house locks again tonight.

Snapped and stuck keys
A key that has been dragging for months eventually snaps. We pull the broken piece out, cut a new key and check the lock. If the cylinder is worn out, replacing it on the spot saves a second call-out.
After a break-in
Call the police first, then us. We repair or replace forced locks, secure doors and windows so the place locks up tonight, and rekey everything if keys were taken. You get an itemised invoice for your insurer.

While you wait
Stay somewhere safe and well lit, especially at night and if you feel unsafe, call 000.
Have proof of address ready. A licence, lease, rates notice or bill. A reputable locksmith checks before opening anything.
Don’t try the window or kick the door. Fixing a broken frame or window costs more than the lockout, and leaves the house open.
Nights, weekends and public holidays
After-hours call-outs cost more, because someone is on call to answer them. You’ll get the after-hours price on the phone and can decide whether to go ahead now or wait until morning.

My tenant is locked out. Can you let them in?
Yes, as long as the tenant can show they live there, such as a lease or a bill with the address. Property managers can also call to arrange it.
Do I have to be the owner for you to open the door?
No, but you need to show you live there or have the right to be there: a licence with the address, a lease or a bill.
Will the lock need replacing after a lockout?
Usually not. Most lockouts finish with the door open and the lock working. A replacement is only needed if the lock is broken, forced or drilled.
